Feb 26 - Feb 27, 2020

Today there was already snow also at low altitudes, tomorrow the temporary winter weather will continue. Tomorrow a small low pressure area called BIANCA will move from France to Southern Germany and will cause snow and storms. The predicted core pressure is 995 hPa at 12 UTC tomorrow. On the southern side of the low, especially in exposed areas of the Black Forest and the Alps,hurricane-like gusts about 140 kph must be expected. The exact track of the storm still varies depending on the model, so that the storm maximum can be reached either a little more to the north or south.

In addition, with the passage of the low pressure system, heavy precipitation begins, which falls on the mountains as stagnant precipitation. Above about 300 m, winter road conditions can be expected. Even at lower altitudes, new snow must be expected for a short time. Especially in the Black Forest, at the Alps as well as in the Swiss Alps there can be up to 75 cm of fresh snow. In the area of the cold front, heavy precipitation can occur for a short time.

There is a risk of storm damage and disruption to road and rail traffic. In addition, flooding must be expected.
